New Friends - Joining the All Ass No Gas Cycling Club means becoming part of a vibrant community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for cycling, health, and community. While cycling solo can be enjoyable, being part of a club allows you to truly maximize your experience. You’ll have the opportunity to make new friends, learn from experienced riders, exchange routes and training tips, and integrate into a new social circle. Some of these connections may even evolve into lifelong friendships.
Cycle Chat - Let’s face it—finding someone who shares your enthusiasm for cycling can be a challenge. Most casual conversations these days revolve around social media trends and viral videos. Cycling isn’t exactly a mainstream “watercooler topic,” especially if your friends or partner don’t share your passion. By joining a cycling club, you’ll find the perfect group of people to talk about everything cycling, from gear and techniques to race strategies and favorite routes.
Learn New Skills - From a performance perspective, joining a cycling club will help you grow as a cyclist. You’ll have opportunities to learn from more experienced riders and challenge yourself against some of the club’s best. This competitive edge, paired with mentorship, will help you hone your skills and become a stronger, more confident rider.
Improved Safety - Cycling in a group offers significant safety benefits, particularly if you ride in remote or less populated areas. A group is more visible to motorists and provides mutual support in case of emergencies.
Club Jersey - One of the perks of joining a cycling club is sporting the club jersey. Matching kits create a sense of camaraderie and belonging, whether you’re training, racing, or simply out for a casual ride with your fellow members. Plus, it’s easy to spot other club riders on the road and exchange friendly greetings, even if you haven’t formally met yet.
Route Mapping - If you’ve recently moved to a new area, joining a club is a fantastic way to explore local roads. Weekly club rides are a great opportunity to discover new routes and hidden gems you might not have found on your own. Even seasoned riders often find new favorite roads through the collective knowledge of a club.
Motivation - Riding solo can sometimes make it tough to push yourself to go faster or farther, and the temptation to skip a ride entirely can be hard to resist. Joining a club holds you accountable, as committing to ride with fellow members motivates you to show up, challenge yourself, and improve.
Social Gatherings - Cycling clubs aren’t just about the rides—they’re also about the community. Off-bike events such as café stops, pizza nights, beer tastings, and coffee hangouts are often highlights of the season. These social gatherings foster a sense of connection and make club membership even more enjoyable.
Giving Back to the Community - At All Ass No Gas Cycling Club, giving back to the community is a cornerstone of our values. All members are encouraged to volunteer for at least one community-focused event annually. Whether it’s supporting other nonprofits like the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or participating in local initiatives, these opportunities are deeply rewarding and reflect our commitment to making a positive impact.
